Slack integration
Your on-call team already lives in Slack — meet them there instead of asking them to learn another inbox.
Why you need it
Email is fine for the exec digest. But when production wobbles at 2 PM, your responders are in Slack — and an alert that doesn't land in the channel they're already staring at is an alert that arrives ten minutes late.
- One webhook, alerts land where you work. Paste a Slack Incoming Webhook URL onto a status page and every open, update, and resolve fans out to the channel — no app to install, no OAuth dance, no admin approvals.
- Cards that read at a glance. Block Kit layout with a red / amber / green side-bar by severity, so the channel scrolls and the eye catches the colour before the words.
- Route each product to its own room.
Marketing site to
#alerts-www, billing API to#alerts-pay, staging to#alerts-stg— one webhook per page, no cross-team noise. - Pick the events you actually want. Independent toggles for open, update, and resolve — keep opens loud and updates quiet, or only fire on resolution for stakeholder channels.
- Send a test before you trust it. One button posts a clearly-labelled sample card so the URL is proven before a real Sev-1 relies on it.
Where it pays off
The everyday chat-ops integration for any team on Slack:
- Engineering on-call. Pipe Down alerts
into your
#alertschannel; a single@channelmobilises the responder faster than any email ever will. - Multi-product workspaces. One webhook per status page lets each squad's alerts land in their own channel — billing, search, mobile, infra, all routed cleanly.
- Cross-team visibility. Broadcast into a shared channel that customer success, product, and exec staff watch — everyone sees the same red banner at the same second.
- War-room threads. Each posted card becomes the obvious thread to drop logs, screenshots, and running commentary into during a live incident.
Not the right tool when: you need rotation-based escalation, acknowledgement tracking, or paging — point an outbound webhook at PagerDuty or Opsgenie and let Slack be the downstream broadcast.
